Blood Test Results

If you have blood tests done with us, we will usually have all the regular results back within 5 working days, or sooner, depending on what tests have been sent.

Some tests take a lot longer as they are sent to other labs in Dublin to be tested these include: Vitamin D, Viral studies (eg for Mumps, hepatitis titres etc.) and these can take up to three weeks to come back to us.

When abnormal results are returned to us we will leave them out so that the patient can be contacted, either by phone or by letter.  If you do not hear back from us after your tests this usually means that all is well, however to be sure it is a good idea to phone us about two weeks after your test to check that is the case, that all your results have come back to us and that the doctors are happy with your results.

If you require your results to be forwarded to a particular consultant or clinic, please let us know.  You can request a copy of your results to bring with you to your hospital appointment also, just ask at reception.

If you come to us with forms from a clinic for blood to be taken, we will not receive the results as it will go directly to that clinic, so you should contact the clinic for results, or wait for your appointment at the clinic.

Radiology Results: X-Ray, MRI, CT, Ultrasound etc

If we refer you for the above tests, the results will come back directly to us.  Allow at least a week for x-ray results to be reported on, typed and sent back to us.  MRI and CT results are usually a little quicker.

Ring us a few days after your test and reception staff will let you know if the results are in and if so, can get one of the clinicians to call you with results.  Reception staff are not allowed to give out results.

If you are sent by the hospital clinic or by a particular consultant for a radiology test, then the results will go back to them directly and we will not usually receive a copy.  For these results it is best to phone the clinic or consultant's secretary for the results.
